switch:BLADE Questions |
What model year Fireblade can I use to build a switch:BLADE ?The switch:BLADE is developed specifically around the 1998 (RRW) and 1999 (RRX) Honda CBR900RR Fireblade. Earlier models of Fireblade should also be suitable, although there will be an extra cost in some cases to supply specific parts from an RRW or RRX.
We have now confirmed that the 1995 (RRR) model onwards is suitable for the conversion, although an extra brcket may be required if the model has a fuel pump.
Problems we anticipate from earlier models include the lower triple clamp (steel rather than aluminium, therefore the steering spindle cannot be salvaged), the mechanical speedometer drive (we are currently working to resolve this), and the seat, (which may not fit the bodywork correctly). None of these problems will prevent a conversion. |
Will BFO Motorcycles supply the donor bike to build a switch:BLADE ?Yes, we will supply a donor bike as part of our Showroom Specification build. |
How long do I have to wait for my switch:BLADE ?We aim for 28 days from receipt of donor bike until delivery of switch:BLADE, but due to our workload at any particular time, this is not always possible. This is for a standard switch:BLADE only. If you require any of the optional extras (e,g, Dymag carbon fibre wheels have a six week lead time) we will advise the customer of the timimg upon receipt of the donor. |
Will I have any problems registering my switch:BLADE ?No. The switch:BLADE has been designed to pass the Single Vehicle Approval test, and provided no changes are made by the customer, there should not be any problems. By providing a complete donor bike (with registration document V5), the customer also identifies the donor bike and avoids a Q registration plate.
In addition, if optional new wheels and forks are purchased, the switch:BLADE can be registered on a current plate. |
Will BFO Motorcycles tune the engine on my donor bike ?We will not tune engines for a customer. However if a customer supplies a donor bike and arranges with a third party to have the work done, we will usually handle the logistics. |
Can I build the switch:BLADE myself ?Yes. We are happy to supply the switch:BLADE as either a fully road legal motorcycle (subject to the appropriate insurance and license), or as a box of parts. People are different. |
What warranty does the switch:BLADE come with ?The switch:BLADE frame kit comes with a 12 month warranty. We are currently looking into ways to provide a warranty on the donor components should we supply the donor motorcycle. |
In what colours is the switch:BLADE available ?The switch:BLADE frame kit comes as standard in unpainted carbon fibre. The Showroom and Premium specification models have the bodywork lacquered. |
Can I buy switch:BLADE parts separately ?Spare parts will always be available for the switch:BLADE should the originals be accidentally damaged. We will also make certain parts available for sale through this website. Parts are expected to be added for sale separately in late 2007. |
Are frame kits available for different donor bikes ?At the moment we only do the switch:BLADE frame kit. A second frame kit, based around the Suzuki Hayabusa will be launched towards the end of 2007.

Custom Machining Questions |
Do you make custom parts ?BFO Motorcycles make custom parts which will shortly be available in the online shop. We will also usually produce bespoke parts for customers should they require them. We reserve the right to refuse to produce any part should we choose not to.
As consultant designers to many leading automotive manufacturers (Aston Martin, Jaguar, etc.), we also have the necessary experience and qualifications to ensure your parts are designed correctly |
Can you design parts for me ?Yes, we can design parts for you. However, it is important to know everything about the area in which the part will be fitted. We cannot design something correctly if we don't know exactly where it is to fit and what other parts are in the vicinity. |
What if I design the parts myself ?Subject to our own engineering approval, we will produce custom parts that you have designed yourself. |
How will my parts be finished ?At the moment we can offer anodising, chrome plating, or a polished finish. |
How long will I have to wait for custom parts ?This depends on our work at any given time, but because the parts our machined by us, we can give an accurate estimate, rather than being at the whim of a subcontract machine house.

Online Shopping Questions |
Why are there no products in some ot the shop sections ?Populating the website is a time consuming exercise, and at the moment we are focusing the majrity of our efforts on the switch:BLADE. We are continually adding products to the shop. If you cannot see what you require, please contact us. |
Why are some products not available for online sale ?Some of our suppliers prefer us not to sell online. Some of our suppliers only wish to supply parts as original equipment on the switch:BLADE. We like to keep our suppliers happy. |
Why are the payment pages different ?The payment pages are different because the customer's card details are processed by World Pay, rather than BFO Motorcycles. This gives the customer complete security. |
